1963 New York City Subway Car Set

Our Redbird R33WF (Worlds Fair Model) set is modeled after the R33S New York City subway cars, which were manufactured in 1963 by the St. Louis Car Company for the 1964 New York World Fair. The fleet of subway cars ran on the IRT Flushing Line and were in service until 2003.
The cars were originally painted turquoise in a color scheme called “Bluebird,” but in the mid-1980s the cars were overhauled and painted red, after which they gained the name “Redbirds”.
The set is composed of multiple pieces, so it can be disassembled for storage and shipping.
