The White House Press Briefing Room, known as the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room, was established by President Richard Nixon in 1970. This room, located in the West Wing, was built over the site of a swimming pool installed by Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1934, which still exists beneath the floor.
